The song, "Yesterday's Cabbage", is about being ill the morning after a party, was a favorite at the Unitarian Universalist NorthEast Federations of Liberal Religious Youth ( LRY ) conferences in the mid-to-late 1970s. Authored by Chris Murphy [1957 - 1983] (AKA Horizon or Glaucus) and Kyle K. Knapp. There is no video of any performance of this song, so we have to make do with pictures of cabbages. In this version, SK Deitch joins in the chorus. Note: May not be suitable for children.

This is the first of three songs I will be putting up for Easter. Sydney Carter was a rather eccentric liberal Christian singer-songwriter. Some of his works were a bit too controversial for the more conservative elements in the Church of England. This is Sydney Carter's most controversial song, and there were many calls for it to be banned by people who did not understand the irony, Conservative politician, Enoch Powell, being one example. The American Armed Forces even announced that they were removing it from their hymnal. Sydney Carter's comment: "Until somebody rang me up to say it had been taken out, I didn't even know it was there." I was asked to sing some Sydney Carter songs, including this one, for an Easter celebration many years ago as a member of a church youth group. I remember this one caused some controversy among the older members of the congregation. To comment on this video go to: unionindialogue.org When we heard about the death of Tyler Clementi, the most recent in a string of queer youth suicides (a list which gets much longer if we take into account all of the queer suicides that we don't hear about) we asked ourselves whether there might have been something--some act, some word--that could stop other queer youth headed down the same road to complete self-destruction. In this video, a whole community has mustered just that. Seminary students, post-docs, faculty members, and the President of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York speak to LGBTQ youth at risk and to those who find themselves being bullied and ostracized just for being who the Divine created them to be.

Song by Gay Folk Singer 'Horizon' ( Chris R. Murphy, 1957-1983), who was active in LRY (Liberal Religious Youth - Unitarian Universalist) and the Gay and Lesbian community in Boston, Olympia, WA, Santa Cruz, CA, and San Francisco. This song, "Honest to God I'm Gay" is one of his more popular ones. There are no videos of Horizon, so this one (posted here by a relative) has to make do with a picture or two. This video of the late Chris Murphy is uploaded by his brother.

Areeb Islam was a Christian Pastor who reverted to Islam in 2002. He was an active member of the Christian community until he discovered Islam. He is now a Full time Daee and lecturer traveling all over the globe delivering talks on Islam. He is currently based in South Africa. He has been a regular on Peace TV doing the Comparative Religion Show FROM PASTOR TO ISLAMIC PREACHER From being allowed to choose his own religion from the age of 12 by his liberal and loving parents, Areeb Islam known as Garion (Gary) Pelser, saw himself leave the faith of his parents, Catholicism and move to the Protestant Church. At the age of 16, he began studying to be An Evangelist, Missionary and Youth Pastor. He was an Inter Denominational Youth Pastor and Evangelist for 8 years and even assisted other Christians with research to come and debate the late Sheikh Ahmed Deedat. He accompanied other Christians to the Centre who had encounters with the Late Sheikh Ahmed Deedat.

He breaks myths and taboos that are embedded within every individual. It is an opportunity to find out possible answers to questions that have and are continually hitting the minds of scholars, thinkers, intellectuals, and the youth of today. Questions asked by students are wide ranging depending on the topic of the program. The show aims at directing the audience away from conflict and extremism towards what can be termed as true path. Muslims are taking part in the UK's first anti-terrorism summer camp as part of a "spiritual war" against Al Qaeda recruiters. The three-day conference in Coventry is expected to attract around 1300 young Muslims for sessions teaching religious arguments against extremists. The event has been organised by the Pakistan-based Minhaj ul-Quran organisation whose leader, Dr Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, has launched a fatwa - or religious ruling - against terrorism. His fatwa is described as a "resolute theological position, based on Islam's primary sources, on the necessity of eliminating terrorism". During the summer camp, held at Warwick University, the document will be studied and a series of debates and talks about its content will be heard. "I have announced an intellectual and spiritual war against extremism and terrorism," said Dr ul-Qadri. "I believe this is the time for moderate Islamic scholars who believe in peace to stand up. "I feel it is my duty to save the younger generation from radicalisation and wave of terroristic recruitment in the West." Journalist Andrew Gilligan has told Sky News on the government's approach in dealing with extremism in the UK.
